Pleroma Christian Supplies opened in Waipawa, Central Hawkes Bay on the 1st of May 1978. In those days we were called Pleroma Books and were a very small, volunteer operated local service. The local Christian community, through a debenture issue, enabled us to purchase our first building, the former Herald Tribune Offices in the Waipawa High St. The business continued to grow but road widening plans forced a move to new building in Otane. In 2004 we built a substantial new addition that now houses our showroom. The old building remains as our warehouse and offices.
We now publish and sell Joy Cowley's ‘Psalms' series and Bishop Peter Cullinane's bestseller ‘Who are you really'.
We also represent within New Zealand some 65 overseas publishing houses covering a wide variety of Christian literature, devotional aids and music. In addition, Pleroma Christian Supplies markets directly to individuals, parishes, diocesan organisations and schools. Pleroma Christian Supplies currently employs eight staff.
Pleroma Christian Supplies general manager and Pleroma Ministries CEO, Shirley Duthie, headed up the team that began the business. Shirley is a qualified spiritual director, counsellor and catechist with a Degree in Education.
