The need for real masculine spirituality, one that speaks to man's true core. 80 minutes listening.

Rohr, Richard O.F.M.
Fr. Richard tries to open doors of understanding regarding the traditionally labeled sources of evil: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Evil needs to appear in the disguise of being something good, moral, and righteous, which allows us to do evil actions without having guilt feelings or self-doubt. If we don’t recognize and stop evil in “the world” (that is, systemic evil) it will bubble up with great force through the spiral of violence into personal actions of evil.
Fr. Richard offers this discussion as a tool for discerning evil on all levels so that we all might make appropriate responses before we are caught up in an uncontrollable spiral.
Length: approximately 70 minutes.

Boys become men in much the same way across cultures, by integrating each of these five messages, through experience: 1. Life is hard. 2. You are not that important. 3. Your life is not about you. 4. You are not in control. 5. You are going to die.
Our culture has done everything in its power, it seems, to move away from this ancient wisdom. Men are lured away to dominate through money, sex, power, consumerism -- and never really become men.
In this audiobook, spiritual master Richard Rohr reintroduces us to male wisdom in a way that will engage anyone who is a man, who is mentoring a young man, or who wants to understand men better, in language being used in retreats around the globe.
Approximate length: 8 hours, with tracks every 4 to 6 minutes for easy bookmarking.

For many years Richard Rohr, O.F.M. has challenged individuals to seriously undertake the gospel journey to conversion. Many of his talks are to men and focus on their journey and their struggle with power. In this combined set he unfolds the way to spiritual transformation for both men and women. Rohr suggests that by the second half of life almost everyone has been hurt. Great spirituality shows how to transform pain and not inflict it on another. The way of learning this wisdom has developed in separate ways for men and women. As gender roles change in contemporary times this process also changes but it promises better understanding between men and women. Rohr believes we are in the midst of dynamic spiritual growth opportunities for both genders.

Ministry in Contemporary Society
Henri J.M. Nouwen; Read by Dan Anderson, O.F.M.
"Nouwen at his best." —Best Sellers
"A lucid and profoundly simple book." —America
"One's overall response to this book has to be 'Yes.' Yes, this describes a style of ministry desperately needed by all of us." —The Christian Century
What does it mean to be a minister in our modern world? In this hope-filled book, Nouwen offers a fresh interpretation of modern ministry. Here he offers inspiration to men and women who want to be of service in their Church or community but who have found the traditional ways of ministry alienating and ineffective.
According to Nouwen, "the minister is called to recognize the sufferings of his time in his own heart and make that recognition the starting point of his service."
