Think about what your organization could do if the process of planning met the inevitability of change head on—and it resulted in significant success.
Organizations large and small, religious and secular, for-profit and not-for-profit, successful and unsuccessful, go through change. John Reid and Maureen Gallagher of the Reid Group have been instrumental in helping many groups discover the power of Prophetic Planning. This book presents a complete overview with detailed information that any organization will find useful in understanding how to plan for change.
Beginning with the importance of crafting clear statements of mission, goals, and objectives to charting a road map through the “wilderness” that characterizes change, the authors present examples from parishes, health care organizations, schools, and various not-for-profits. They offer successful conflict management and communication tools that every member of a council, board, or team can learn how to use and appl. 128pp.

Hanciles does yeoman work in part one synthesizing studies on the impact of globalization, revealing that its outcomes will likely not be determined by the Euro-American heartlands that sparked this movement. Instead, in parts two he shows that migration in general is having an enormous effect on shaping a new world order, and in part three, "Mobile Faith," he advances the case for the migration of Christians as carrying within it the seeds of renewal for the whole church and also the potential to reshape church-state and religion and culture relations globally.

Right across the world we have experienced economic, political, social and, indeed, moral collapse. Individualism and greed have proved our undoing as inept government, irresponsible banking and an out-of-control construction sector have brought us to the edge of ruin. The free-market system is in meltdown and needs replacing. The fundamental issue is cultural. Rather than being concerned with solidarity, we were carried away by selfishness and no solution is possible in that environment. The answer lies in community. Lasting progress is possible in such a context and transformation can spring from the grassroots - only!

This reissue of J.D.C. Fisher's classic work follows two volumes of his work: Christian Initiation: Confirmation Then and Now, and Christian Initiation: Baptism in the Medieval West. Once again, Fisher introduces the reader to primary sources and translations that are only found in this volume, Christian Initiation: The Reformation Period. The book contains an English version of the early reformed rites of Baptism and Confirmation used during the Reformation period, together with other documents revealing the circumstances in which these rites were compiled and used. Covering the period 1520-52, Fisher offers readers texts for the Lutheran, Reformed, and Anglican traditions and unearths some documents expressing viewpoints of the conservatives of the time who were content with the old Latin services and resisted the innovations of the Reformers. Fisher provides a textual study of these rites that contributes to our understanding of sacramental and liturgical history.

In the year 2010, Edgar Turner became part of that small group of people who are not only mentally and physically active at the age of 90, but remain an essential cog in an institutional machine. In Edgar's case it is the Church of Ireland, a body whose heart beats close to its Irish and Anglican roots. For more than 60 years, as a priest, scholar, ecumenist, legislator and sometime woodworker and football devotee, his rich and varied life has touched that of many others. Often his work has gone unnoticed, or with just the suspicion of his wisdom, knowledge and guiding hand in the background. To celebrate Edgar's 90th year, some of his many friends and colleagues pay their tribute to his remarkable career.

Thomas F. Ryan was a man of immense energy, with a strong commitment to social justice. He combined religion and dedication to the poor in Ireland, China and Hong Kong. As a scholastic in Belvedere College, he taught his classes, took an MA at University College Dublin, and was deeply involved with the Belvedere Newsboys' Club and in work for young people in remand homes. He was a very capable organiser and administrator, both within the Society of Jesus and as a member of the Hong Kong government. His planning was marked by imagination and vision, and he was deeply devoted to the Chinese people and had many Chinese friends, one of whom arranged for a special tablet and music fellowship in his honour in St George's Royal Chapel in Windsor Castle. As a Jesuit he may also be considered a pioneer in his Order's extensive commitment to the welfare of refugees.
